چکیده

Left ventricular (LV) pressure and myocardial segment length, determined by an epicardial mercury-in-silastic length gauge, were plotted simultaneously to obtain a pressure-length loop before and after left anterior descending artery (LAD) occlusion in 11 dogs. Previous studies have indicated that the area within this loop is a sensitive and reproducible means of quantitating regional myocardial performance. Immediately following ligation, systolic performance deteriorated as indicated by progressive reduction in the pressure~length loop area. Within approximately 30

Regional myocardial function and dimensions early and late after myocardial infarction in the unanesthetized dog.

Pairs of ultrasonic dimension gauges and a micromanometer implanted in the subendocardium of the left ventricles of unanesthetized dogs were used to analyze serial changes in hemodynamic status and segmental function for up to 4 weeks after permanent circumflex coronary artery occlusion. Regional function was studied in control segments and in segments identified as marginal (hypokinetic) and i...

Relations Between Myocardial Blood Flow and Postextrasystolic Potentiation in Epicardial and Endocardial Left Ventricular Regions

Postextrasystolic potentiation was studied during control and 5 minutes after coronary occlusion in epicardial and endocardial regions of 12.open-chest dogs. Segmental behavior evaluated with ultrasonic crystals. was correlated with regional myocardial blood flow (MBF) measured with radioactive inicrospheres. A similar correlation was found between the percentage of systolic shortening in poste...

Candesartan Attenuates Ischemic Brain Edema and Protects the Blood–Brain Barrier Integrity from Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Rats

Background: Angiotensin II (Ang II) has an important role on cerebral microcirculation however, its direct roles in terms of ischemic brain edema need to be clarified. This study evaluated the role of central Ang II by using candesartan, as an AT1 receptor blocker, in the brain edema formation and blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption caused by ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injuries in rat. Methods...

Comparison effect of pentobarbital sodium with chloral hydrate anesthesia on post-ischemic damage in an experimental model of focal cerebral ischemia

Introduction: Anesthetic agents, blood pressure, arterial pH and blood gases have found to influence on the pathophysiology of experimental stroke. Despite, there are very few comparative studies about effects of anesthetic agents in animal model of cerebral ischemia. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the effects of chloral hydrate and pentobarbital anesthesia, as comparative study, on...

Functional significance of regional ischemic contraction abnormalities.

To evaluate the progression of segment function following induction of ischemia, the left anterior descending coronary artery was ligated (eight dogs) or cannulated and perfused at various pressures via a bypass-oxygenator (six dogs). Mercury-in-silastic length gauges were sutured to the anterior left ventricle, and pressure was recorded by a catheter-tipped transducer. Segment function was det...
